Ahoy, me Hearties! Set sail on the seven seas with The Improvisors these school holidays for their 3rd improvised show just for kids with an exciting piratical adventure at Circa!
Join The Improvisors as they create an exciting buccaneer adventure, searching for buried treasure, battling sea monsters and singing sea shanties – all with the help of you!
PIRATES! is a totally interactive show for kids that uses the audience’s ideas and suggestions to steer the course of the story, maybe even joining in the action live on stage.
We welcome and encourage the audience to come dressed as pirates to add to the interactive experience (and fun) - Yo Ho Ho!
Shiver me timbers, PIRATES! Is a great introduction to theatre for kids from 3+ and at $10 a ticket – a better deal than the movies! Also Circa's cafe, Wharfside, will be open during the season of the show, offering a selection of yummy treats.

The 1951 waterfront dispute was an epoch in New Zealand history, lasting 151 days, affecting 22,000 New Zealanders directly through lock-outs and leaving an indelible mark on this country's social history. Now, relive those times of hope, despair, anger and redemption through the music and performance of Trouble on the Waterfront, a collection of songs that explore some of the events, attitudes and personal perspectives of that time.
Winners of the 2009 Folk Tui Award, Chris Prowse and the Waterfront Collective (featuring Bill Hickman, Eva Prowse, and Tessa Rain) bring their album of musical snapshots of the 1951 Waterfront Dispute to life, returning with their acclaimed stage show that just can't be missed.
"It’s a fascinating piece of Kiwi history, presented in a uniquely Kiwi fashion." - Marty Duda, Real Groove Magazine
“Together, the songs and broadcasts evoke tingling connections to the past without becoming overly political. There is no folksy earnestness here, no mighty wind.” – Maryanne Cathro, Theatreview
