ACCESSIBILITY AND DISABILITY IN AOTEAROA

Social Change Collective and Everybody Cool Lives Here are co-hosting a free panel discussion this Thursday on Accessibility and Disability in Aotearoa.

The panel will be on Thursday 26th January at Circa Theatre, Wellington. It will be a kōrero on perceptions about disability, the power of language, intersectionality, and the importance of representation, with a particular focus on the arts. The panel will be facilitated by Jesse Austin-Stewart (he/him) and the speakers will be Bailee Lobb (she/her), Dunc Armstrong (he/him), and Sam Morgan (he/him). Doors open from 5.45pm, with the panel starting at 6pm.

Attendees can register for FREE here: https://events.humanitix.com/scc-x-everybody-cool-lives-here-accessibility-and-disability-in-aotearoa

There will be an NZSL interpreter. Accessibility information on the venue can be found here: https://www.circa.co.nz/your-visit/accessibility/

Following the panel at 7pm, attendees are encouraged to kick on to Jacob Dombroski’s show ‘Big J: A New Legacy’. Following his rise to prime-time celebrity status on Shortland Street, Jacob returns to the stage with his revolutionised award-winning solo about strength, whānau, and dreams. Tickets can be bought here.

ACCESSIBILITY AT CIRCA

  • Pay it Forward’ tickets

Now you can ‘play’ it forward! Purchase one ticket to Big J : A New Legacy for someone who usually cannot afford to go to the theatre and Circa will find it a good home. Book here

If you are interested in claiming a Pay it Forward ticket or nominating a friend, please contact the Circa Theatre Box Office Team on circa@circa.co.nz. This initiative is year-round, currently running in active collaboration with Big J : A New Legacy.

  • ‘Choose Your Price’ nights – Thurs 19 & Tues 24 Jan

Our ‘Choose Your Price’ initiative lets you buy up to four tickets to a specific performance and opt what to pay for them. We encourage you to select a price based on what you can afford. This is a community driven initiative where people with higher incomes can select a relative ticket price that subsidises those who afford less to pay lower. It means more people are able to experience live theatre, and ensures that the production can still make enough money to cover its costs.

$25 ACCESS TICKETS: Please call the Box Office on (04) 801 7992 or email circa@circa.co.nz to book your $25 Access ticket (with free companion/whānau ticket if required)
