Tuesday 6th to Saturday 10th June
7.30pm

Tickets: $25 to $30 SOLD OUT!

After a sold-out season at BATS Theatre during the Comedy Festival, White Man Behind A Desk: Live is back for a return season in a bigger venue at Circa Theatre, Tuesday 6th to Saturday 10th June.

“Top-drawer brilliance.” – John Smythe, Theatreview

“satire genius.” – Jacinda Ardern, Labour Party Deputy Leader & MP for Mt Albert

“Make sure you head along if you can. It’s hilarious!” – Metiria Turei, Green Party Co-Leader & MP

“It is the kind of political satire we desperately need and I was happy to have the piss taken out of me!” – Grant Robertson, Labour MP for Wellington Central

White Man Behind A Desk, described by the Sunday Star Times as the ‘kiwi John Oliver’ (a phrase he will never shake for the rest of his life) is performing live in a return season at Circa. Leaving the safety of TVNZ OnDemand and YouTube, Robbie Nicol will rant, frolic, sing, dance, and welcome some of the big names in politics for a variety show of epic proportions.

Frankly, it’s your duty as a citizen of Aotearoa to be there, ready to laugh at the unending circus of absurdity that is New Zealand.

White Man Behind A Desk is a satirical webseries that was initially filmed in Robbie Nicol’s bedroom. Robbie researches, writes, and presents, and the series is made an actual thing by Elsie Bollinger and Sally Bollinger. The series launched 13th May 2015 and 20 videos have been created over two seasons.

The webseries became the first ever winner of NZ Web Fest’s ‘Best Web Show’ award.

Collaborators have included: Karin McCracken, Sonny Ngatai, Jack Buchanan, Robyn Malcolm, Claris Jacobs, Minnie Finlayson, Jake McGregor, Tom Scott, Toby Morris, Sharon Murdoch, Dylan Kelly, Stephen Gallagher and many, many more.

For the 2017 NZ International Comedy Festival Robbie and the team decided to create a live show for very first time. Six sold out shows were performed at BATS Theatre in May this year.
