AN UPDATE FROM THE ‘CROCODILE FEVER’ TEAM (08/09/21)

In light of yesterday’s announcement, and with heavy hearts, the team behind Crocodile Fever have to report we are cancelling our 2021 Circa Theatre Season.

The team is comforted that Wellington is in Alert Level 2, though unfortunately the level shift hasn’t come in time for us to go up. We need to finish our rehearsals, build our set, and pack it into the theatre before we can open. This leaves us with very few days to actually show the work to audiences — and with the Delta Alert Level 2 restrictions, that audience would be a very wee number! We want to do the story, and ourselves, proud: that won’t be possible with the limitations and constraints we are currently faced with.

We’re gutted – but! We love this story, and these sisters, and that’s not going anywhere. We felt honoured to be a blood spattered, funny, energetic addition to Circa’s 2021 programme, and we can’t wait to find a new life for this craic.

There are ways you can help us. If you’ve already bought a ticket, thank you, and Circa will be in touch about how you can donate it, if you are in the right position to do so, or receive a refund.

They say cats have nine lives. We think crocodiles have two.

Whatungarongaro te tangata toitū te whenua. — The Crocodile Fever team.

Following a stellar Edinburgh run, Crocodile Fever explodes onto Circa’s mainstage. This thrilling dark comedy from Northern Ireland promises action, laughs and a killer finish.

Fianna Devlin crashes through the window, returning to the family home. It’s been 11 years since she saw her pious and guilt-ridden sister Alannah. It’s 1989, and tonight, fuelled by gin, Taytos and ‘80s anthems, the two sisters unite to escape the claws of a monster.

Starring award-winning Karin McCracken and Hannah Kelly and Circa luminary Peter Hambleton. It might not end happily, but it will end gloriously.
