Circa Theatre has been a champion of theatre in Aotearoa New Zealand for 45 years.

Circa has a nationwide reputation built on 45 years of producing first-rate professional theatre. The theatre has championed quality playwriting and performance since 1976 and continues to take a significant role ensuring theatre practitioners are well-supported so that they can make the best theatre in New Zealand. 

Hundreds of productions have been presented by Circa. There are two performance spaces where 20-30 shows are staged each year, providing the Wellington theatre-going audience with a busy and diverse bill of entertainment.

The theatre is run by the Circa Council which consists of theatre practitioners. The Council provides the overarching direction of the Theatre and the professional members of the Council volunteer their time to do so. Circa works closely with the Theatre Artists Charitable Trust (TACT) to support each of the independent productions that form the main part of its bill each year.

Circa is currently looking for a Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager to drive fundraising for both the Circa Theatre and TACT. 

The ideal candidate will be experienced in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and plans while working with a range of external stakeholders, which will include individual donors, grant makers, and corporate supporters, as well as the Trustees of TACT, Friends of Circa, Circa Council, volunteers and artists. 

You’ll be experienced in identifying, researching and qualifying prospects, planning effective approaches to major gift, corporate and grant-making prospects, and developing Circa’s case for support for these approaches. The Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager will also ensure all supporters of Circa through giving or partnering are stewarded appropriately.

You’ll work closely with the tightknit Circa management team, which includes the Sales and Marketing Manager, Social Media Manager, Box Office Manager and Circa Administrator. 

We’re looking for an energetic team player capable of working independently to drive Circa’s fundraising goals. Strong organisational and project management skills are a must, as is fluency with fundraising CRMs, budget management, forecasting and tracking. An appreciation of the theatre is vital as you will attend performances and other events to forge relationships and network with donors.

This is a one-year fixed term contract with a salary of circa $80,000 depending on experience and will be based in Wellington. Circa can offer the right candidate both flexible working hours and options to work from home. There is potential for this contract to continue beyond the initial term.
