An entertaining and thought-provoking play by novelist Jenny Pattrick. The time is a little in the future. The play explores the tension between the terminally ill Irina’s need for hope and the government’s need to spend its Health Budget wisely during a threatening pandemic. A controversial law is denying hospital treatment to patients in their last year of life. Irina’s daughter Yulia, a nurse, arrives back from the disastrous war in Ukraine to discover her mother and brother are illegally buying drugs. Arguments erupt. A famous pianist – former pupil of Irina’s – visits to complicate matters – and perhaps to provide some hope, to both mother and son.
