Circa Theatre is looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Ushers to provide a range of customer service duties and join our friendly Circa team.

The main responsibility of a Volunteer Usher is the customer service of the audience before, during and after a performance – mostly situated within our two theatre spaces Circa One (224 capacity) and Circa (102 capacity). Please note, this is volunteer (i.e. unpaid) work.​

Main tasks include:

  • Assisting with getting patrons to their seats in a timely and safe manner
  • Issuing show programmes to the patrons as required
  • Attending the performance in the theatre space with the patrons
  • Liaising with our Front of House Manager
  • Reporting for each ushering shift a minimum of 35 minutes before the performance start time.

Desirable skills we look for are:

  • Excellent communication skills and a high level of customer service and reliability
  • A tidy, professional presentation with a high standard of personal grooming and hygiene.
  • Ability to take instructions from our Front of House Manager
  • Ability to to work as a team
  • Confidence in settling any possible disputes/ dealing with disruptive audience members
  • Be physically fit to walk up and down our Theatre stairs
  • Ability to follow Circa policies, procedures, rules, and Code of Conduct.

 

Circa will provide induction, training, support, and feedback and at least one Volunteer Usher Training session will take place annually. Important: This is a volunteer role (i.e. it is unpaid).
