Kids ask the best questions.
“Why is the sky blue?”
“Why do we dream?”
“Why does Dad always wear socks with sandals?”

In But Why, Dad?, no question is too silly, too big, or too confusing to turn into a song! Hot on the heels of the smash-hit All The Things I Wish I Could Be — praised as “a celebration of possibility, identity and good old-fashioned silliness” — this brand-new Kiwi kids’ comedy concert dives into the wonderful, sometimes wobbly world of emotions, discoveries, mistakes, and mysteries, with plenty of laughs along the way.

Once again, loveable dads Jeff and Tom bring their “excellent comic chemistry and a relaxed rapport with the audience” to the stage. The live music is a highlight — “catchy, well-crafted and often hilarious” — with “subtle nods for adults tucked among the big beats for kids.”

But Why, Dad? invites the audience to be part of the fun — clapping, singing, and even shouting out their own big questions, which are cleverly woven into the action.

At its heart, this proudly local production celebrates curiosity as the ultimate superpower — encouraging tamariki to stand up, speak up, and ask questions, because that’s how we learn more about ourselves and the world. Funny, fast-paced and full of heart, But Why, Dad? is a riot of music and curiosity that proves asking “why” the best superpower of all — even if Dad doesn’t know all the answers.

Every “why” is an adventure waiting to happen!
