
Jthan Morgan (she/they/ia) – Ngāi Tāmanuhiri, Rongowhakaata, Magiagi, Sapapāli’i, Lotofaga – is a Wellington based theatre director, performer, producer, costume designer, choreographer, stage manager and drag queen. Jthan is known for creating and headlining Māori drag girl group; ‘The Tiwhas!’, Circa Theatre’s annual pantomimes, and appearing in season one of Mr Hugo’s Little Library on TVNZ.
Jthan won the Resene People’s Choice Award for Picnic Table Design (Fringe 2026) and was the 2022 Wellington Theatre Award recipient of the Campion Accolade for Outstanding Performance, and the 2025 recipient of Costume Designer of the Year for ‘The Handlers’ performed on the Circa One stage.
Jthan’s relationship with Circa Theatre began in 2014 with ‘Destination Beehive’ by Lorae Parry and Pinky Agnew, and ‘Red Riding Hood: The Pantomime’ by Sir Roger Hall, and has worked on over 22 Circa productions since. Jthan has previously served on the TAHI Festival Board, is currently on the Wellington Theatre Awards judging panel, teaches industry and waiata at Te Auaha and Toi Whakaari, and is excited to join the Circa Council in 2026.
